The Sevnica castle is situated on a hill overlooking the old town center. It is visible from far away. It dates to 13th century. At the time the Salzburg lords managed Sevnica.

In the first decades of the 16th century the castle was fortified. It had to many owners to mention and the last one was countess Matilda Arco Zinneberg, who belonged to the Habsburg family and owned the castle from 1910 to the end of the WW II.

The castle still offers a late Baroque fresco “Four seasons” and some very interesting exhibitions and galleries. It offers a wedding and conference hall and a beautiful restaurant.
