When visiting Slovenia one can come accross a lot of castles, manors, mansions and other medieval buildings. Wether still standing or in ruins they are all interresting with their own stories. You can still find them in the center of towns and on remote hills overlooking the land below just as they once did. This site is a constantly building database of those witnesses of time. Supposedly there were hundreds of them, around 1000, which is a lot for a small country like Slovenia. As said before: some are still preserved and renewed, some are in ruins and some only mentioned in old records and cannot be found.
